In the library basement in the Town of Brook on March 4, 1931, stockholders met for the purpose of organizing a new bank. The first subject of the meeting was the naming of the new bank. The selected name for the new institution would be Community State Bank.
An initial 300 shares of stock at $100.00 each provided an initial capitalization of $25,000 with a surplus of $5,000. With Howard Myers as President and Harry Lawrence as Cashier, the Bank opened its doors on the morning of April 1, 1931. The Bank remained under the leadership of Harry Lawrence for 46 years.
Since that date in 1931, Community State Bank has been a community owned and operated bank. We have served generations of families and farms for over 90 years. We take pride in the quality of customer service we provide and believe banking should be relationship-based. With a strong history as an agricultural based bank, Community State Bank has grown into the full-service bank you know today offering a variety of loan and deposit products to meet your banking needs.
Our mission is to provide a good return for shareholders while providing a great banking experience for our customers through superior customer service. For 92 years, Community State Bank has served Brook and the surrounding communities from our single location on Main Street. Today the Bank has assets of over $100 million and remains Independently Strong and Individually Committed.
